A refreshing and elegant orange acidity the first sensation that presents in the flavour palette. It’s quickly backed up with milk chocolate sweetness, complex nutty tones and a sweet vanilla note. We’ve found this years crop from Zoila has long lasting flavours and mixes wonderfully with freshly steamed milk.

This year we visited Huehuetenango for the first time, with the intentions of meeting Zoila herself. We purchased her coffee in 2018 while in Guatemala as it showed up on the cupping table and totally wowed us.
In 2019, we made the effort to visit Zoila in Huehuetenango and see first hand what's happening there. It was our first trip to Huehue and it was eye-opening. The climate, the soil and the aspect is so ideal for growing coffee, but poverty throughout the region holds back the development. There's a lack of infrastructure for post-harvest processing which leads to less consistent coffee in the region - which is the primary industry there. We'd love to support Zoila in the development of her processing facility in order to help improve her coffee, and in turn improve her profits which she can re-invest in the community. Hopefully we can get the foundation of that set up and off the ground in 2020.

Zoila lives nearby the town of San Pedro Necta - approximately 2.5 hours from Huehuetenango City. If you were to look at the distance on a map, it wouldn’t be far, but bear in mind the roads weave in and out of the mountains and for some reason there are speed bumps every 100 ft…
