In the lush, rolling hills of Boquete, where the mist clings gently to the mountainsides and the soil is rich with volcanic promise, the story of Altieri Specialty Coffee began—like all great stories—with a leap of faith. What started as a chance purchase by Eugene Altieri, an Italian-American dreamer with no idea of the treasure he’d stumbled upon, has blossomed into a legacy of passion, craftsmanship, and award-winning coffee. Each lot of coffee is named after a family member, and in this case, this lot is in honour of Ale.

Every cup is a love letter to this remarkable land, and the latest harvest is no exception. Bursting with the rich sweetness of ripe cherries, the delicate perfume of cherry blossoms, and the deep, juicy allure of blackberries, this coffee is as vibrant and layered as the story behind it. Now, guided by the hands and hearts of his children, the Altieri farms continue to produce coffees that are both a celebration of their heritage and a gift to coffee lovers everywhere. From the first bloom on the tree to the final pour in your cup, Altieri Specialty Coffee invites you to savour a legacy steeped in beauty, passion, and the essence of Boquete.

More About The Farm
  • Altieri Specialty Coffee is a family-run operation located in Boquete, Panama, an area renowned for producing exceptional specialty coffee. The farm is nestled in the lush mountains of the Chiriquí Province, at altitudes ranging from 1,600 to 1,850 metres above sea level, providing the ideal environment for cultivating high-quality coffee.
  • The Altieri family has been dedicated to coffee farming for decades, with a commitment to sustainable practices and innovation in coffee production. The farm spans approximately 15 hectares, with 10 hectares planted with specialty coffee varieties such as Geisha, Catuai, and Pacamara. The remaining land is preserved as native forest, supporting biodiversity and contributing to the overall health of the ecosystem.
  • Altieri employs meticulous farming practices to ensure their coffees express the unique terroir of Boquete. Coffee cherries are selectively hand-picked at peak ripeness, ensuring only the finest fruit is processed. The farm is known for its diverse processing methods, including washed, honey, and natural, as well as experimental anaerobic fermentations, all of which highlight the complex flavours and distinct characteristics of their coffees.
  • Sustainability is a cornerstone of Altieri Specialty Coffee. The farm uses organic fertilizers and integrates shade trees and native plants to create a balanced and resilient agroforestry system. Water use is carefully managed during processing, and waste byproducts like coffee pulp are composted and returned to the soil as nutrients.
  • Altieri Specialty Coffee has garnered recognition for its exceptional cup quality, frequently earning accolades in coffee competitions and auctions. Their dedication to craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability has made them a standout producer in the world of specialty coffee, offering an unforgettable taste of Boquete’s rich coffee-growing heritage.
