Janson Coffee Farm is situated on the western slopes of Volcán Barú in Chiriquí, Panama, a region famed for its high-elevation microclimates and mineral-rich volcanic soil. The Janson Family, now in its second generation of coffee cultivation, operates the estate with a philosophy that combines sustainable farming, innovative processing, and a commitment to preserving the vibrant local ecosystem.
At elevations ranging from approximately 1,600 to 1,800 meters, the farm’s Geisha trees benefit from cool evenings and ample sunshine, allowing the cherries to develop gradual, complex sweetness. Lot 450 is part of a small, carefully managed harvest designed to showcase the dazzling clarity and elegant aromatics that Panama’s Washed Geishas are known for.
Janson Washed Geisha Lot 450 begins with delicate jasmine aromas, giving way to a soft white peach sweetness. Zesty citrus notes provide a bright lift, while a gentle honey finish rounds out the cup. Expect a crisp, tea-like body that highlights the refined character of Panamanian Geisha.
For this washed process, perfectly ripe cherries are de-pulped and then undergo a careful fermentation in fresh mountain water. After fermentation, the beans are thoroughly rinsed to remove residual mucilage, then dried on raised beds for optimal airflow. This method preserves the Geisha’s signature floral complexity and vibrant acidity, delivering a remarkably clean and layered cup.
