Kotowa is a heritage coffee estate in Boquete, Chiriquí, Panama, renowned for its commitment to ecological stewardship and the cultivation of exceptional Geisha coffees. The property spans multiple micro-lots, each with distinct characteristics due to Boquete’s microclimates and volcanic soils. Among these is Las Brujas (“The Witches”), a secluded parcel perched around 1,700–1,900 meters above sea level, where a steady mist rolls in from the surrounding cloud forests.

Owned and managed by the Castrellón family for three generations, Kotowa places sustainability at the core of its operations. They utilize organic pest management, composted coffee pulp as natural fertilizer, and carefully maintain forest corridors to protect native flora and fauna. Every cherry at Las Brujas is hand-selected by trained pickers who return multiple times during harvest to ensure only the perfectly ripe fruit is collected—maximizing sweetness and complexity in each bean.

Kotowa Las Brujas Natural Geisha greets you with vivid strawberry aromatics and a gentle floral honey sweetness. As the cup cools, tropical fruit nuances begin to shine, supported by a subtle thread of cacao nibs on the finish. Expect a lively acidity and silky mouthfeel—hallmarks of a top-tier Panamanian Geisha grown in the high-altitude mists of Boquete.

For this natural process, ripe cherries are laid out on raised drying beds beneath a partial canopy, allowing for slow, even drying. This method concentrates the fruit notes and helps preserve the bean’s delicate complexities. Workers rotate the cherries regularly to ensure consistent airflow and avoid over-fermentation, yielding a bright, clean cup with juicy sweetness.
